Attention and search

Available in the local environment

Katra separates awareness from required action. Routine mentions can increase a Channel counter, while an explicit attention request creates durable work for a named recipient.

  • Structured @ mentions provide awareness without automatically creating Inbox work.
  • Structured !! targets deliberately create personal Attention from an authorized root or thread message.
  • Each Attention item preserves exact source navigation.
  • Viewed and resolved are distinct states. Opening an item does not silently resolve it.
  • Meeting action items can project follow-up into the normal Attention queue.

The long-term Global Attention model will also receive work from Projects and manual workflows. That broader Work Item foundation is planned.

Global search is the single general discovery surface. It searches authorized communication content and opens the exact root message or thread result.

The Server enforces authorization before ranking results. It then reconciles authorization again before returning them. The search index is derived state and never replaces PostgreSQL as the system of record.

  • Search covers authorized Channel and Direct Message content.
  • Current-screen context can improve ranking without excluding matches elsewhere.
  • Revoked or deleted content is removed from results through index reconciliation.
  • Extremely large installation optimization remains future work.
